Invitation to Stakeholders concerned with Economic Evaluation and Health Technology Assessments (HTAs)
by Angelika Oberhof
Announcement: Heidelberg Health Economics Summer School 2016
Following the positive feedback we received regarding last year’s Health Economics Summer School, we decided to offer a new program in 2016. It will consist of two modules:
Module A will be devoted to Health Economic Modeling Techniques and their practical application, including their use in the context of Health Technology Assessments (HTAs). This will be in an interactive short course comprising a mixture of lectures, exercises, and debate.
Module B will focus on an update, exchange of experience, and debate about the use and limitations of health economic evaluations as a component of Health Technology Assessments designed to inform actual decisions. This will be a workshop bringing together health economists, managers, and health care policy makers – ranging from “believers” and users of conventional analyses to skeptics who prefer other approaches, which they consider more pragmatic. Module B will include a constructive discussion on how to increase the role of health economics, and what – if anything – would have to be changed in the way health economic evaluations are being conducted.
The highly interactive program will cover both theoretical foundations and practical application of health economic evaluation methods in the wider context of Health Technology Assessments.
Both modules can be booked independently.
The number of participants will be limited to facilitate an intense exchange with faculty, presenters, and colleagues. We therefore recommend an early registration.
Some preliminary information on the program is already available - please follow the direct link to the Summer School 2016 page, which will be updated continuously.
