The Role of Budget Impact in HTAs

While official HTA agencies in England (i.e, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, NICE) and Germany (i.e, the Federal Joint Committee/Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care, GBA/IQWiG) follow their official evaluation criteria consistently, our comprehensive analysis reveals that – after controlling for all significant variables – the projected budget impact of new technologies seems to have an independent effect on HTA evaluation outcomes.
