Heidelberg Health Economics Summer School 2025
The Heidelberg Health Economics Summer School 2025, an interactive, high-level program offered by InnoValHC under the auspices of the Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg, will be “the” opportunity to meet international experts and leaders in health policy and economics, and to discuss challenges surrounding the use of Health Technology Assessments (HTAs) to inform patient access, pricing, and reimbursement decisions including implications for research and development (R&D).
The Summer School 2025 will take place again in the Dolomites – at the NOBIS conference center, opened in 2023 by the city of Bruneck-Brunico (Pustertal - Val Pusteria) in cooperation with the “Nature of Innovation” (NOI) network of research institutes rooted in South Tyrol / Italy and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
The Summer School 2025 program is anticipated to comprise again two modules; in response to feedback and considering prior experience, each of the modules is planned to last for about four days [and might be booked separately or in combination], in order to better distinguish with basics (the conventional paradigm of HTA and cost-effectiveness) and the state-of-the-art of the debate how to better address the links and gaps between theoretical foundations, current practice, and stakeholder expectations – also in order to reflect the objectives and actual conduct of HTAs, including health economic evaluation.
The scientific program modules will be …
Interactive. Unique ratio of 2:1 between registered participants and faculty, allowing for interaction facilitated by exercises, case studies, and roundtable debates
International. Health policy-makers around the world share fundamental challenges with regard to financing, reimbursement, pricing and access issues, and the appropriate role of HTAs
Intense. High-level scientific presentations and interactive debate, including excellent opportunities to expand professional network
In-depth. Major topics such as handling of ATMPs and cancer combination treatments, OMPs, medical devices and diagnostics, as well as “precision medicine” will be addressed from various perspectives, bringing together academics and practitioners from different fields including clinical medicine, (health) economics, HTA, medical ethics, and policy-makers
Impartial. Strictly evidence-based and informed by the latest progress in health economics – with ample room for interactive exercises and discussions
The Summer School 2025 program will be enhanced by special events, including a Welcome Reception, "Fireside Chat", and a full program day at the LUMEN museum & event space on the summit plateau of mount Kronplatz (2,275m above sea level).
